Erica & Adam: Engaged

Erica and Adam first met while they were working together at a local restaurant in Fort Collins, CO. Erica was studying graphic design and fiber arts at CSU and Adam had recently moved to Colorado from Anaheim, CA. Adam proposed to Erica several years later on Christmas day 2011 and the rest is history.

Erica and Adam were a delight to photograph this past weekend. We have known Erica for several years but didn’t meet Adam until the engagement session. We instantly knew they were a perfect duo.The engagement session was such a blast with these two in Old Town Fort Collins and we are looking forward to their mountain wedding in Golden, CO in August!

Engagement Photos: What to Wear

Everyone wants their engagement photos to be unique and scream “this is us!” So, in order to do that, I thought I’d put in my two cents on what really makes photos pop and allows for your engagements to be funky, fun, hip and of course the natural you!

What makes for great engagement photos?
1. Excellent Lighting
2. Skilled Photographer
3. Comfortable and Excited Individuals
4. Fun Props (optional, but most definitely recommended)

Things to keep in mind:
1. Be yourself.
2. Get Creative.
3. Complement each other.

It’s always best when you can be comfortable in your own skin while getting your photograph taken. People say, ‘well I’m just not photogenic.’ Not true! Everyone is capable of being photogenic you just have to make sure you are comfortable…and excited! Engagement photos are all about being in the moment with your other half and making your love KNOWN! We always try to do our best to make sure our clients are well taken care of and a lot of it has to do with the comfort level between the photographer and those that are being photographed. Be yourself and don’t forget to have fun!

When it comes to style, get creative. Even if fashion is not your thing, it doesn’t hurt to play dress up for your engagement photos. Think of colorful outfit combinations, bold accessories and fun patterns. Mix it up a bit by having a couple of different outfits. Whatever you decide, keep it true to who you are and we will do the rest to make your photos pop!

Com•ple•ment - “a thing that completes or brings to perfection.” Style has everything to do with what works well together and with that you must keep in mind that there will be two of you in these photos. You don’t need to match but think about what types of colors/patterns clash and what would make for a great photograph when paired together. Ladies, if your man does not have style please help him. :)

Just remember to be yourself, get creative and complement each other! This is your chance to make sure both of you look amazing! Below are some outfits that I find hilarious and would not recommend. These could be considered a poor decision for an engagement session. Unless of course, you really want to match.
